Capt. Chris Signs With Davis Bait Co. PDF Print E-mail
Professional Touring angler and Guide, Chris Jackson signs with Davis Bait Company and Netbait Plastics.

On Monday January 15, 2007 Pro Chris Jackson of Fins-N-Grins Freshwater Adventures gets on board with famous Alabama Bait designer William Davis and Davis Bait Company. Many anglers in the fishing industry know of Davis from his outstanding "Shaky Head" jig head and floating worm as well as his "X-Wire Spinnerbaits and Paca Jigs. Chris went to Davis to assist him in designing a grass type jig for use on Lake Guntersville, where he spends most of his time. After a lot of time on the drawing board William Davis held true to form and is in the process of doing just that. "William is one of the best bait builders in the industry and I knew he could produce the ideas in my head as well as add to them to make great bait." Jackson said. Mr. Davis has also removed one bait from the drawing board and getting ready for production on a new finesse jig head or the famous Alabama rig, as many of you know it, and they say it will raise the bar for other companies in this industry. "I was working a show with William at Marks Outdoors when I spoke to William about some ideas on a new jig head, I ran into him about 3 months later and he tossed me bait and said "is this what you were talking about?" It was awesome from the conversation he did exactly what I wanted to see but made it better." Jackson said. Davis said it will be sometime for the new heavy grass jig to make it to the shelves but when we have it right everyone will know. Chris is not only a Professional Touring Angler but also a guide on one of the top lakes in the country, Lake Guntersville. He is well know for using some strange tactics for catching grass fish and this requires him to work with great companies like Davis Baits to get them built. I have always liked and respected William Davis and the people that work for him. I knew if anyone could ever build bait I had an idea on and then improve on it was him." Jackson said. Chris said he went to William sometime ago and talked to him about some ideas but, due to other contracts  was unable to really get them rolling. He now has signed on with them and has big plans for getting them in every boat in North Alabama. "Everyone knows of Davis and uses their baits on the  Coosa river lakes but I had noticed not many anglers here used his stuff, I wanted him to build a new jig that was heavy enough to punch through the grass but small enough to work and he is doing just that. I am sure anyone that does not have this bait on the boat will wish they did.

On another note Jackson has also moved on board with Netbait Plastics, the makers of the ever famous Paca Craws and Paca chunks. Both baits are huge in the fishing world and have also started a new line to add to their already great list of products. "They have started production on a couple of new things", Chris said. I have always used Netbait even before they were big in the industry. I only used a couple of other company's plastics because Netbait did not make some of the things I wanted. Now I don't have that problem and Netbait will be the only bags in my boat, except for the Davis floating Shaky worm of course." Jackson said jokingly. They have announced a couple of new lines such as a big ribbon tail worm, a larger lizard and a 7 inch ribbon tail worm. Jackson said," these baits looked like they were made to fish Guntersville grass and I can't wait to give those "BIG G toads" something new to eat".

While Chris is excited to be a part of this new group he is also excited to be "moving up" into the world of Professional tournament bass fishing with the American Pro Tours, Grand Slam Series. "This tour is great because they are helping a lot guys that want to become full time touring pros but just can't afford it." Jackson said. With lower entry fees and good payouts it will give anglers an opening into pro bass fishing that my have never had the chance. When asked who he had to owe all this to Jackson is very humble. He said "I could not have made it here without my faith, God, and wonderful support from my family." They have always believed in me and my wife Beth has been there with me every step of the way." She has pushed me to become better and never allowed me to give up on our dreams, not many wives will go through what she has to help me make it." He said.

Be sure to check out the new baits these companies have to offer and look out for Chris Jackson on the American Pro Tours, Grand Slam Series. Also if you can't find him there he says you can always find him on the waters of Lake Guntersville chasing after the elusive "Big G Toads" with his clients.
